Invitrogen™ DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide), Anhydrous is a high-purity, highly polar organic solvent specifically designed for research applications requiring precise solubility and compatibility with sensitive reagents. As a versatile tool in molecular biology and cell culture, it effectively solubilizes compounds that are generally insoluble in aqueous environments, including various biomolecules and hydrophobic fluorophores. This anhydrous formulation ensures optimal performance by providing strict control over water content, which is critical for maintaining the stability of moisture-sensitive reagents.
This product is provided in convenient, single-use 3 mL aliquots (10 x 3 mL) to ensure fresh, high-quality solvent for every preparation and to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination. Each lot is rigorously tested for quality and purity, including validation of pH, melting point, and water content. The single-use packaging minimizes exposure to the atmosphere, preventing the absorption of moisture which can degrade the quality of anhydrous DMSO over time.
Molecular Probes™ DMSO is ideal for preparing concentrated stock solutions of popular fluorescent reagents, including calcium indicators (e.g., Fluo-3 AM), mitochondrial probes (e.g., MitoTracker™ Green), and amine-reactive labeling dyes. Beyond its use as a solvent for probes, it is also a common component in cryopreservation media for stabilizing cell membranes during freezing. Its stability at room temperature and broad compatibility make it an essential reagent for standardized laboratory workflows and high-precision biochemical research.
