Lucius Labs DMEM high Glucose is a specialised variant of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium, formulated with an elevated glucose concentration of 4500 milligrams per litre. This high-glucose formulation is specifically designed to support cells with elevated metabolic demands and rapid proliferation rates, making it particularly valuable for cultivated meat bioprocessing where high cell densities and growth rates are essential.
This formulation is chemically defined, ensuring precise compositional control and excellent batch-to-batch consistency. The medium is animal-origin-free and serum-free, eliminating the variability and regulatory concerns associated with animal-derived components. The elevated glucose content provides substantial energy for metabolically active cells undergoing rapid proliferation. The formulation includes sodium pyruvate for additional metabolic support but does not contain L-glutamine, allowing customisation based on specific cellular requirements.
The chemically defined and animal-origin-free characteristics make this medium ideal for cultivated meat applications, supporting robust proliferation and differentiation of muscle, fat, and connective tissue cells. The high glucose content is particularly beneficial for intensive bioprocessing and high-density culture systems.
The powder format requires refrigerated storage at 2-8°C, with a guaranteed shelf life exceeding six months. Liquid formulations are sterile-filtered through 0.2-micrometre membranes, ensuring microbiological safety.
