GECKO is a chemically defined, animal-component-free (ACF) adherence solution designed to facilitate robust cell attachment in serum-free and chemically defined environments. It addresses the common challenge of poor cell adhesion on standard tissue culture plastic when removing serum, ensuring that anchorage-dependent cells maintain morphology and proliferation rates without the need for undefined biological matrices.

Formulated as a precise mix of solubilised adherence proteins found in Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS), GECKO replicates the natural attachment factors typically lost when transitioning to serum-free media. Unlike complex extracellular matrices (ECMs) that can introduce variability, GECKO provides a consistent, defined surface treatment that minimizes background noise in assays and downstream analysis.

This coating is essential for researchers using FRS Pioneer or other serum-free formulations with adherent cell lines that struggle to attach to standard vessel surfaces. It enables the use of standard, cost-effective tissue culture plasticware rather than requiring expensive pre-coated vessels.
