Nexture Bio’s ProSphere Microcarriers provide a food-safe, animal-component-free support system for adherent cell expansion in cultivated meat production. Manufactured from plant-derived proteins and polysaccharides, the microspheres enable efficient proliferation and differentiation of muscle or stem cells in stirred bioreactor systems. Their composition allows the microcarriers to become part of the final biomass, simplifying downstream separation and supporting fully edible, integrated processes for scalable cultivated meat development.
Two formulations are available. ProSphere S exhibits a sedimentation velocity of approximately 290 cm/h with a diameter range of 125–425 µm, while ProSphere P offers higher settling performance at around 546 cm/h within the same size range. Both provide a surface area of roughly 130 cm² per gram, promoting uniform cell attachment and growth. Comparative assays show no significant difference in viability between Nexture Bio’s ACF microcarriers and conventional animal-derived alternatives, confirming suitability for high-performance research and scale-up.
The microcarriers are supplied sterile and suspended in buffered storage solution. They are non-hazardous, non-flammable, and stable under recommended storage at ≤ 4 °C. Each lot is validated by microbial and fungal growth assays before release.
ProSphere Microcarriers are designed for research and pilot-scale use in adherent cell cultivation systems and are compatible with a wide range of mammalian and fish cell types used in cultivated meat research.
