The Smart MCs P2 Microcarriers are a xeno-free and dissolvable biopolymer platform, optimised for high-density cell culture in bioreactors. This advanced system addresses the critical challenge of efficient, scalable cell expansion for cultivated meat production by providing a highly versatile and easily harvested substrate. The primary benefit is the significant enhancement of cell yield and recovery, streamlining the transition from research to commercial scale.
The core material is a proprietary xeno-free biopolymer, offering superior biocompatibility and a non-enzymatic, dissolvable harvest. A key feature is the tuneable stiffness, which can be customised from 3 kPa to 100 kPa, ensuring the microcarriers are perfectly compatible with the specific mechanical requirements of diverse cell lines.
These microcarriers have been validated across a broad spectrum of cell types, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), myoblasts, and fibroblasts, all crucial for cultivated meat applications.
