Defined Bioscience’s FGF2 (Chicken) is a recombinant, animal-origin-free fibroblast growth factor 2 derived from the Gallus gallus sequence. It supports the proliferation, differentiation, and maintenance of avian and other FGF2-responsive cells under serum-free conditions. As a native chicken homolog, it provides improved compatibility and signalling efficiency for poultry cell lines used in cultivated-meat research, particularly when compared with mammalian FGF2 variants.
Produced in E. coli with an N-terminal hexahistidine tag and protease cleavage site, the protein is supplied carrier-free and purified to greater than 95 % by SDS-PAGE. It exhibits an EC₅₀ below 2 ng/mL in NIH-3T3 proliferation assays, confirming potent biological activity at low concentrations. The recombinant expression system ensures full traceability and eliminates animal-derived components, aligning with regulatory expectations for food-grade materials.
FGF2 (Chicken) is provided as a 1 mg/mL solution or lyophilised powder in phosphate buffer, compatible with standard media and supplement formulations. It can be incorporated into basal media such as DMEM/F12 or serum-free formulations like HiDef B8. Its species-specific sequence and high purity make it a preferred choice for avian cell proliferation and differentiation studies in cultivated poultry production.
