Most products require no additional agreements. Cell lines and certain biological materials require a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) on first purchase from each supplier. Defined Bioscience’s DMEM/F12 Basal Medium is a fully defined, cGMP-produced formulation designed for the culture of a broad range of mammalian cells. It combines Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) and Ham’s F-12 in a 1:1 ratio, providing the amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements needed to maintain robust cell growth and metabolism. The medium is buffered with HEPES and sodium bicarbonate to ensure pH stability under standard CO₂ incubator conditions, while the inclusion of L-alanyl-L-glutamine enhances cell viability and medium stability compared with conventional glutamine.
Free from proteins, lipids, and growth factors, DMEM/F12 serves as a reliable foundation for custom or serum-free media systems. It supports primary, immortalised, and stem cell cultures across both research and process development applications. Produced under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards, each batch meets USP criteria for sterility, endotoxin (<0.25 EU/mL), and mycoplasma.
DMEM/F12 can be used as a stand-alone basal medium or paired with Defined Bioscience’s HiDef® B8 Supplement to create a complete medium for pluripotent stem cell maintenance. Supplied sterile in 500 mL PET bottles, it is stable for up to one year at 2–8 °C when protected from light.
