Defined Bioscience’s FGF2-G3 (Human) is a thermostabilised recombinant growth factor designed to replace conventional wild-type FGF2 in cell culture. It supports efficient proliferation and maintenance of stem and progenitor cells across a range of mammalian species relevant to cultivated-meat production. By maintaining full biological activity for over three weeks at 37 °C, FGF2-G3 enables consistent culture performance with minimal media changes, reducing both cost and labour in growth-factor-dependent workflows.

The FGF2-G3 sequence differs from canonical human FGF2 at nine amino-acid positions, enhancing protein stability and activity under physiological conditions. It exhibits an ED₅₀ below 1 ng/mL, confirming high potency in proliferation assays, and is typically required at less than half the concentration of wild-type FGF2 in media formulations such as HiDef B8. Produced recombinantly in E. coli and purified to greater than 95 % by SDS-PAGE, FGF2-G3 is supplied as either a sterile 1 mg/mL liquid or lyophilised powder for flexible downstream use.

Its prolonged half-life eliminates the need for weekend supplementation and daily media replacement, enabling more stable and homogeneous cell populations. FGF2-G3 integrates directly into serum-free or chemically defined media for cultivated-meat research and pilot production.

For research and development use only. Not for human or diagnostic applications.
