Lucius Labs DMEM/F12 is a high-performance basal cell culture medium formulated as a 1:1 mixture of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium and Ham's F12 Nutrient Mixture. This versatile medium supports the growth of a wide variety of cell lines, providing a balanced nutritional foundation for general cell culture applications. It represents an essential component for numerous laboratory protocols in cultivated meat research and development.
This formulation is chemically defined, ensuring lot-to-lot consistency and superior control over the culture environment. The medium is animal-origin-free and serum-free, eliminating variability and regulatory concerns associated with animal-derived components. The powder formulation contains a glucose concentration of 3150 milligrams per litre, providing substantial energy for metabolically active cells. It is formulated without L-glutamine but includes sodium pyruvate for metabolic flexibility.
The chemically defined and animal-origin-free nature makes this medium ideal for developing bespoke formulations for cultivated meat applications. It provides a reliable, consistent foundation for the proliferation and differentiation of muscle, fat, and connective tissue cells, supporting rigorous bioprocessing requirements.
The powder format should be stored refrigerated at 2-8°C to maintain integrity. Shelf life is guaranteed for a minimum of six months. Once reconstituted, the liquid medium must be sterile-filtered and handled aseptically to ensure quality.
