Secondary Fermentation of Spent Media Byproducts
For cultivated meat R&D teams, my starting rule is simple: accept, condition or reject spent media before inoculation, based on batch composition and safety limits - not the original medium...

TrypLE™ Express is a recombinant cell-dissociation enzyme designed as a superior alternative to porcine trypsin. Derived from microbial fermentation, this animal-origin free (AOF) reagent effectively dissociates a wide range of adherent mammalian cells, including CHO, HEK 293, A549, and primary keratinocytes. Its gentle action preserves cell surface proteins and ensures high viability, making it ideal for sensitive downstream applications where maintaining cellular integrity is paramount.
This enzyme is manufactured in a dedicated animal-origin-free, cGMP-compliant facility and is processed under strict ISO 13485 standards. Each lot is validated for sterility, pH, and osmolality, ensuring exceptional purity and performance consistency. Unlike traditional trypsin, TrypLE™ Express is highly stable at room temperature, eliminating the need for frequent freeze-thaw cycles and simplifying laboratory workflows.
The formulation is phenol red-free and ready-to-use (1X), requiring no reconstitution or dilution. Its ease of use and ability to be inactivated by simple dilution—rather than requiring specialized trypsin inhibitors—makes it a dependable choice for both research and large-scale bioprocessing. It is particularly well-suited for serum-free culture systems where animal-derived components must be avoided.
Cellag Bio has no published studies on this product yet.
Cellag Bio is a database of published cultivated meat research, organized into decision-ready records: what worked, what failed, the likely cause, and what to do instead. Before you commit budget to a medium, reagent, or cell line, check the evidence behind it.
Search by medium, reagent, cell line, or species (for example "Beefy-9" or "B8") to find the studies that use it.
