Gibco™ Penicillin-Streptomycin is a dual antibiotic solution used to prevent bacterial contamination in mammalian cell culture. This formulation provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, combining penicillin at 5,000 units/mL and streptomycin at 5,000 μg/mL in a 100X concentrated, sterile-filtered liquid.
This product (Cat. No. 15070063) is supplied as a 100X concentrated, sterile-filtered liquid. Produced in cGMP-compliant facilities, the solution is manufactured under rigorous quality standards to ensure consistent performance and freedom from contamination.
Penicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while streptomycin inhibits protein synthesis. Together, they provide effective protection against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The recommended working concentration is 50–100 U/mL penicillin and 50–100 μg/mL streptomycin in cell culture media.
This solution should be stored at –20°C and protected from light. Thawed aliquots can be stored at 2–8°C for up to one month. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. For research use or further manufacturing. Not for diagnostic use or direct administration into humans or animals.
