XCeLL Factor™ Recombinant FGF2 Bovine/Porcine is a potent, heparin-binding recombinant protein engineered to regulate cell proliferation, survival, migration, and differentiation in mammalian cell systems. By activating FGFR signaling pathways, it promotes angiogenesis and supports the growth of fibroblasts, stem cells, and primary cell lines, making it an essential component for serum-free formulations and cell culture research. Expressed in an E. coli host system, this protein corresponds to UniProt ID P03969.
The protein consists of an amino acid length of 185 AA (including His tag) with a molecular weight of approximately ~20.4 kDa. Quality specifications ensure >95% purity as determined by SDS-PAGE, an endotoxin level below 0.1 EU/µg, and 0.2 µm sterile filtration. Functional testing in an NIH-3T3 fibroblast proliferation assay demonstrates dose-dependent activity with an ED50 of approximately ≤1.08 ng/mL.
Offered in both lyophilized and liquid formats under catalog number XCF-FGF-002, the product is shipped on dry ice or gel packs. Reconstitution is recommended in sterile water or PBS to a concentration of 0.1–0.5 mg/mL. For optimal stability, store the lyophilized protein at -20°C to -80°C. Reconstituted solutions remain stable for up to 1 week at 2–8°C or long-term as frozen aliquots at -20°C. This product is intended strictly for research use only.
