DMEM vs F12 for Cultivated Meat Cell Lines
For cultivated meat R&D teams, I’d screen DMEM, Ham’s F12 and a 1:1 DMEM/F12 mix before choosing a basal medium. None is complete on its own: your cell line, supplements...

CryoStor® CS10, manufactured by BioLife Solutions, is a ready-to-use, serum-free, and animal component-free cryopreservation medium designed to maximize post-thaw cell recovery and viability. Formulated with 10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and USP-grade components, this defined medium provides a safe, protective environment for cells during cryopreservation at very low temperatures (–70°C to –196°C).
This cGMP-manufactured medium (Cat. No. CS10) is formulated with USP-grade components and is protein-free, containing no undefined components. It is backed by an FDA Master File to support regulatory submissions and undergoes rigorous quality control testing for sterility, endotoxin levels, and cell-based performance.
CryoStor® CS10 effectively mitigates temperature-induced molecular cell stress responses, ensuring high post-thaw viability (typically 94–98%) and functional retention. Immune cells cryopreserved in CryoStor® CS10 demonstrate robust cytokine secretion and antibody production upon activation, comparable to fresh cells. It is recommended for a variety of sensitive cell types, including myeloma cell lines, human pluripotent stem cells, immune cells (T cells, B cells), and blood-derived cells.
Store unopened at 2–8°C and protect from light. For research use or further manufacturing. Not for diagnostic use or direct administration into humans or animals.
Cellag Bio has no published studies on this product yet.
Cellag Bio is a database of published cultivated meat research, organized into decision-ready records: what worked, what failed, the likely cause, and what to do instead. Before you commit budget to a medium, reagent, or cell line, check the evidence behind it.
Search by medium, reagent, cell line, or species (for example "Beefy-9" or "B8") to find the studies that use it.
