Gibco™ DMEM/F-12 (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium/Nutrient Mixture F-12) is a widely used basal medium designed to support the growth of a broad range of mammalian cells, including MDCK, glial cells, fibroblasts, human endothelial cells, and rat fibroblasts. This 1:1 mixture combines the high concentrations of glucose, amino acids, and vitamins from DMEM with the wide variety of components found in Ham’s F-12.
This specific formulation (Cat. No. 11320033) is modified with L-glutamine and HEPES. The addition of HEPES provides effective buffering to ensure pH stability, while the sodium bicarbonate system requires a 5–10% CO₂ environment to maintain physiological conditions. Phenol red is included as a pH indicator. Produced in cGMP-compliant facilities, Gibco™ DMEM/F-12 contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors, making it an ideal foundation for serum-free media systems or custom supplementations (commonly 10% fetal bovine serum).
Each batch is manufactured to meet rigorous quality standards for sterility and performance. The medium is suitable for both research use and further manufacturing applications, providing a consistent and reliable platform for a variety of cell culture protocols.
