Secondary Fermentation of Spent Media Byproducts
For cultivated meat R&D teams, my starting rule is simple: accept, condition or reject spent media before inoculation, based on batch composition and safety limits - not the original medium...

Gibco™ Trypsin-EDTA is a proteolytic enzyme solution used for the dissociation and detachment of adherent mammalian cells from culture vessels. This formulation contains 0.25% trypsin and 0.5 mM EDTA, providing effective cell release while preserving cell viability.
This specific formulation (Cat. No. 25200056) includes phenol red as a pH indicator, allowing for easy monitoring of solution pH. Produced in cGMP-compliant facilities, this solution is sterile-filtered (0.2 μm) and manufactured to meet rigorous quality standards, ensuring consistent performance.
Trypsin cleaves adhesion proteins, while EDTA chelates divalent cations that facilitate cell-cell and cell-substrate adhesion. These components work synergistically to enhance dissociation efficiency, making this solution suitable for a variety of adherent cell lines, including primary cells and immortalized cell lines.
Supplied in 100 mL bottles, this solution should be stored at –20°C. After thawing, store at 2–8°C and use within one month. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to maintain enzymatic activity. Inactivate trypsin with serum-containing medium or trypsin inhibitor. For research use or further manufacturing. Not for diagnostic use or direct administration into humans or animals.
Cellag Bio has no published studies on this product yet.
Cellag Bio is a database of published cultivated meat research, organized into decision-ready records: what worked, what failed, the likely cause, and what to do instead. Before you commit budget to a medium, reagent, or cell line, check the evidence behind it.
Search by medium, reagent, cell line, or species (for example "Beefy-9" or "B8") to find the studies that use it.
