Most products require no additional agreements. Cell lines and certain biological materials require a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) on first purchase from each supplier. The Marbled Goby Muscle Cell Line (MGM_C1) is a spontaneously immortalised fish muscle cell line developed by MOR Cell.Bio for cultivated seafood research and development. It is derived from epaxial muscle tissue of the Marbled Goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata), a freshwater species native to Southeast Asia. The line provides a consistent and scalable platform for fish meat production research. Unlike primary cells, which have limited passages before senescence, MGM_C1 has exceeded one hundred passages while maintaining stable morphology and viability. This makes it suitable for long-term experiments and commercial-scale process development.
MGM_C1 has a doubling time of approximately thirty-two hours and maintains viability above ninety percent, with more than fifty percent recovery after cryopreservation. The cells exhibit muscle-like characteristics and are being developed to achieve full differentiation through fusion and fibre formation. The line is authenticated using molecular methods that are currently under development and is supplied in cryovials containing between half a million and one million cells per vial.
The product includes a one-time license, available in research or commercial form, which provides ongoing media optimisation updates, protocol refinements, and technical support directly from MOR Cell.Bio. This approach ensures users continue to receive updated methodologies and support without additional subscription costs.
MGM_C1 should be stored in liquid nitrogen vapour phase upon receipt and thawed following the supplier’s recommended protocol. It is intended for research and development use only and is not approved for human or diagnostic applications.
