Capricorn Scientific Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS), Gamma Irradiated, is a high-quality serum collected in South America and processed using a gentle gamma irradiation method for maximum contaminant inactivation while preserving serum quality. It provides the nutritional and embryonic growth-promoting factors essential for successful eukaryotic cell culture, making it ideal for applications requiring an additional level of safety assurance.
This formulation (Cat. No. FBS-GI-12A / FBS-GI-12B) is gamma irradiated at 25–35 kGy using an innovative process in small-sized boxes, ensuring consistent inactivation of contaminants without exposing the serum to excessive heat. The serum appears as a clear amber liquid with a pH range of 6.8–8.2 and is supplied sterile-filtered.
Quality control testing includes determination of pH, osmolarity, protein content, albumin, IgG, hemoglobin, endotoxin level, sterility, mycoplasma detection, and virus testing. Only batches that pass strict quality control are released for sale.
Supplied as a frozen liquid, store at ≤ –15°C (or ≤ –20°C). Thaw overnight at 2°C to 8°C and swirl gently to homogenize. Once opened, store at 4°C and use within 4–6 weeks. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; preparation of aliquots is recommended. For research use or further manufacturing only. Not for diagnostic use or direct administration into humans or animals.
Cellag Bio is the structured intelligence layer for cultivated meat R&D — scattered published research distilled into decision-ready records: what worked, what failed, the likely cause, and what to do instead. Before committing budget to a medium, reagent, or cell line, check the evidence behind it: real experimental outcomes and failure modes, not marketing claims.
Search by media, reagent, cell line or species (e.g. "Beefy-9" or "B8") to find the records that use it.
