Most products require no additional agreements. Cell lines and certain biological materials require a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) on first purchase from each supplier. We handle this digitally - both parties sign online before shipment. Subsequent orders from the same supplier proceed immediately.

Smart MCs Gelatin Methacryloyl (GelMA) is a specialised hydrogel system engineered to provide a highly supportive and tuneable extracellular matrix (ECM) mimic. It addresses the challenge of creating a robust 3D scaffold that remains highly conducive to cellular activities. This advanced biomaterial promotes superior biocompatibility and provides optimal conditions for the growth and differentiation of mammalian cells in cultivated meat applications.

The core material is a gelatin-based biomaterial modified with methacryloyl groups to facilitate rapid solidification via light-based cross-linking. This modification allows for the swift creation of hydrogels that combine the biological relevance of natural materials with the mechanical robustness of synthetic polymers. The system offers excellent cell adhesion sites and proteolytic degradability, distinguishing it from traditional scaffolds.

Validated for use in 3D bioprinting and tissue engineering, GelMA supports the maintenance of physiological conditions required for specific bovine, porcine, and avian cell lines. Its mechanical properties—including stiffness, porosity, and surface charge—are tuneable during synthesis to match target tissue profiles. This flexibility makes it an ideal substrate for transitioning from fundamental R&D to pilot-scale cultivated meat models.

Supplied as a kit including LAP photoinitiator in light-protective bottles. The standard polymer-to-LAP ratio is 1 g GelMA per bottle with 0.05 g LAP. The material is highly light-sensitive and must be stored in a dark place; it remains stable at room temperature for 3 months, at 4 °C for 12 months, or at -20 °C for up to 18 months. Long-term storage at -20 °C is recommended to maintain maximum shelf life.
