PeproTech® Bovine FGF-basic (FGF-2/bFGF), Animal-Free Recombinant Protein, is a non-glycosylated, heparin-binding growth factor expressed in E. coli. It belongs to the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family and plays a key role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue neovascularization.

This product (Catalog No. AF-450-62-50UG) is supplied as a lyophilized protein consisting of 154 amino acid residues with a molecular weight of 17.1 kDa. It is produced under animal-free conditions, ensuring consistent performance without the risk of animal-derived contaminants.

Quality control measures include purity ≥95% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC, endotoxin concentration <0.1 EU/µg, and bioactivity determined by a cell proliferation assay using Balb/c 3T3 cells. The expected ED50 is ≤0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ≥1 x 10⁷ units/mg.

This growth factor is suitable for a variety of applications, including stem cell culture, neural cell culture, and other research areas requiring defined, animal-free conditions. It is commonly used to promote the proliferation of pluripotent stem cells in feeder-free culture systems.
