From request to delivery — what actually happens when you order.
Cellbase brings the cultivated meat industry's specialist suppliers together in one marketplace. Here's exactly what happens when you request a quote or place an order, step by step.
1. Request or order
Browse by category — cells, media, bioreactors, scaffolds, equipment, sensors, processing, or consumables — and either order directly at the listed price, or add items from multiple suppliers to one quote request.
Some specialist suppliers price by request rather than by catalog. Look for Request a Proposal instead of Add to Quote on those listings — we'll connect you directly, and pricing is arranged from there.
2. Confirm and pay
Pay by card, bank transfer, or purchase order — whichever fits your procurement process. Choose bank transfer and you'll receive a proforma invoice first.
Payment confirms your order. Your supplier ships once payment is received — this applies to every order, including institutional buyers paying by PO or bank transfer.
3. Your supplier ships and invoices you directly
Cellbase coordinates the transaction, but the supplier you ordered from ships your goods and invoices you for them directly. That's who you'll hear from about dispatch, tracking, and delivery — and Cellbase stays your point of contact throughout if you need anything.
A few things vary by product:
- Cold-chain shipping. Some items need temperature-controlled shipping. Where that applies, the cost is confirmed at quote, before you pay — never estimated or added as a surprise at checkout.
- Import permits. Live cell shipments across some borders may need an import permit. If your shipment needs one, your supplier will confirm exactly what's required for your destination before it ships.
- VAT. Charged by your supplier, per their jurisdiction, on their invoice for the goods — not added by Cellbase.
