YEX™ Cell Culture Growth Medium

YEX-003 is a high-performance, serum-free growth supplement specifically formulated for the expansion of suspension cell cultures in cultivated meat production. Derived from refined avian egg yolk, it provides a nutrient-dense and cost-effective alternative to foetal bovine serum (FBS), enabling robust biomass accumulation in bioreactor environments without the requirement for extensive cell adaptation periods.

The formulation harnesses the natural growth energy of eggs, delivering a balanced profile of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates essential for high-density suspension growth. Each batch undergoes a rigorous bactericidal filtration process with a 100 nm pore size, followed by gamma irradiation to ensure a sterile, pathogen-free product. This process maintains the integrity of the avian-derived nutrients while meeting the safety and consistency requirements for cellular agriculture scale-up.

YEX-003 is supplied as a 500 mL frozen liquid and is designed for use at a 10% (v/v) concentration in basal media such as DMEM. For optimal performance, the supplement should be stored at -80°C and thawed using a controlled 37°C water bath protocol to prevent lipid precipitation. Once diluted into media, the complete formulation remains stable for up to 21 days when stored at 4-8°C.
